Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA),  today,  Monday,  rescued 3 severely-injured accident victims (2 males & a female), at Mosalasi Round-About inward Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos, as they also handed over one of the passengers, caught with100 used children diapers to the police.

 

Lastma Akanji Wasiu (Bravo 16) who led the rescue operations, in a statement made available to Brands Track Online, confirmed that the accident involved 3 vehicles, Mazda commercial bus (FKJ 88 XH), Tricycle (Keke Marwa KJA 369 QM) and a white Camry car (KJA 351 HG) on main carriage way at Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a white Camry car lost control due to over speeding and hit a commercial tricycle from the rear while the tricycle went off balance and obstructed an on-coming, fully- loaded Mazda commercial, enroute Iyana-Ipaja.

 

“The  3  rescued accident victims were immediately rushed to different hospitals by their relatives but, unfortunately one of the rescued accident victim (male) reportedly died along the road to hospital,” LASTMA Akanji stated.

 

The vehicles involved in the accident were said to have been removed, immediately, from the road to avoid impeding free flow of traffic, and handed over to Police men  from Gowon Estate Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigations.

 

He added that one of the passengers, inside the commercial tricycle involved in the accident, was caught with more than 100 pieces of used small children ‘Diapers Pampers’, and huge sums of money of different denominations.

 

“He was immediately handed over to Police men at the scene of the accident,” the LASTMA official stated.

 

The  agency’s General Manager, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, described the accident as man-made, which would have been avoided if there had been no over-speeding.

 

He maintained that the government would continue to embark on regular public education on dangers, inherent in over-speeding by both private, commercial and truck drivers across the State.
