Kole Ademulegun

Frontline out- of- home advertising practitioner and former president, Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), Mr. Bankole Ademulegun is dead.

 

The death of the former Partner/Founder, Media Link was announced by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) on its platform, on Saturday.

 

The regulatory agency, in a terse statement, issued by its Head, Corporate Affairs, Winifred Akpan, stated:  ‘Mr. Kole Ademuleggun has passed on to glory. He was a past president of OAAN, and a member, APCON  Governing Council’.

 

While the cause of death of the prominent advertising practitioner is yet to be established, the deceased, as the president of OAAN,  will be remembered for his administration’s  dogged fight against moves by some state governments to muscle out the practice.

 

At the height of the face-off between the association and the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency, LASAA, Ademulegun mobilized some  officials and members of the association to the Lagos State Secretariat to vent their anger to the then Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola,  against the decision of the pioneer Chief Executive of LASAA,  Mr. Makanjuola Alabi, to pull down billboards, running into billions of naira, in the state, as part of the reforms, embarked upon by the agency then.

 

Ademulegun’s death  comes barely six months after the passing of  Mr. Femi Ogala, the  then sitting Vice President of the association. The former Vice President had died few days to the association’s  November 2022  Conference, Exhibition & Awards, held last year.
