Founder of the Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA), Prince Tony Agenmonmen, has advised the nation’s marketers to remain ethical and be focused on delivering genuine value to their consumers, as they embrace technology, in their operations.
The Immediate Past President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) made the charge at the 3rd edition of the annual Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA) held in Lagos, recently.
He noted that though AI remains a powerful tool for marketers, it should, however, not replace the heart and vision of each marketer, which turn technology into transformation, he stated
Agenmonmen added that the increased consciousness of today’s consumers about environmental impact of the products and brands they support, provides opportunity for marketers to communicate sustainability in meaningful ways, champion brands that prioritise the planet, and craft campaigns that drive awareness and inspire positive change.
The former Senior Strategy Manager at the Nigerian Breweries Plc explained that th 2024 edition of the Awards, tagged ‘Ignite’, was designed to ignite the spark in every marketer to push boundaries, set new standards, and elevate marketing across thr country.
“Our journey has not been without its challenges, yet we remain unwavering in our commitment to the principles of transparency and excellence. It is these principles that will build the Nigerian Marketing Awards® into the largest, most credible recognition platform for marketers in Nigeria.
“Every step we take, every decision we make, is rooted in a vision of an awards system that stands above all others in integrity and influence,” he added.
In her remarks, the Chairman, Awards Decision Committee (ADC), Iquo Ukoh, commended the organisers for their resilience despite the trying economic times, which had hindered brands from performing to their full capacity.
She explained that while the entries for this year’s edition of the awards were much lower, there was a marked improvement in the quality of such entries, when compared with obtained last year.
“This is quiet understandable seeing the abysmal financial performance of many organisations, especially in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector for 2023-24 Financial Year,” she stated.
