The President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) of Nigeria, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, has said one of his administration’s areas of focus is to continually strengthen the institute’s position as the preferred choice for people management.
Mallam Gobir, who disclosed this at his investiture as the institute’s 21st President, in Lagos, recently, also assured stakeholders in the Human Resources space of his commitment to enhancing the institute’s brand equity, while also digitalizing its operations to enable it cut costs.
The new CIPM boss emphasized the importance of adapting to the evolving HR landscape, while calling all stakeholders to join hands in ensuring the Institute’s position as a global leader in people management, both locally and globally, is reinforced.
Capturing his administration’s agenda in the acronym ‘SOAR’ , Mallam Gobir, noted that the agenda will serve as the administration’s guiding framework of the next phase of the Institute’s evolution.
“The letter ‘S’, for us, represents the desire of the exco to Strengthen CIPM’s position as an institute of choice for people management, across the globe, while ‘O”, represents the commitment of the new administration to Optimizing the value the institute offers to its members. “’A’ represents our desire to continue to Automate our operations, for efficiency, while ‘R’ represents the new leadership’s commitment to re-skilling and retooling its employees and leaders,” he stated.
According to him, the need to continually adopt technology for the running of the institute has become imperative to enable it deliver value to stakeholders, and be in tune with global HR trends.
Congratulating the new CIPM president, the Chairman of the event, Professor Tunji Olaopa expressed confidence that the new president will not only work on the existing structure of the institute’s former presidents, and forefathers, but also lay full and solid foundation of its own that will keep the institute on course as a change agent in the nation’s efforts at coming up with world class civil service.
