NIMN commences ‘debt forgiveness’ exercise July 1, this year.
The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has announced plans to kickstart its debt forgiveness exercise from Friday July 1, this year, to enable its debtor -members regularise their financial status with the marketing body.
The institute’s President and Chairman of Council, Mr. Idorenyen Enang stated this at this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the institute, held in Lagos, recently.
Enang appealed to members, with dormant financial records with the institute, to avail themselves of the opportunity, provided by the ‘debt -forgiveness’ window to quickly do so, since the exercise would only run for three months.
According to him, the exercise, planned for between Friday, July 1, and Friday, September 30, this year, provides the opportunity for members, with huge debts and dormant records, to only pay off their 2021 and 2022 annual dues, and have other debts written off.
The Corporate Sheperds’ chief executive described the exercise as one of the strategies of the council at enhancing the membership base of the institute, and, at the same time, re-addressing the protracted and knotty issue of dormant membership of the institute.
The NIMN boss stated further that after such members must have reconciling their financial records at the institute, they would however be made to undergo some trainings, organized by the institute, as a way of reintegrating them back to the institute’s operations.
While commending other members of council, staff and members of the institute for their support in the task of repositioning the marketing body, Enang stated that such efforts had started yielding positive results, as evidenced in the increasing recognition and acceptance of the institute by the general public, and the quality of the 17 individuals the institute just awarded its fellowship titles.
He assured of the council’s resolve at collaborating with sister professional bodies to provide more benefits for its members, and create an atmosphere for strategic collaborations.
“The council believes that the Institute needs to collaborate with sister professional bodies to provide more benefits for its members and create an atmosphere for strategic collaborations. It was in this light that the Institute signed an MoU with the Advertising Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria (APCON) in January 2022,” the NIMN boss stated.
He stated that some of the focal areas in the second half of 2022, are to the amendments to the NIMN Act in tandem with current realities, the resuscitation of the institute’s journal, review of the institute’s curriculum of its professional examination and restructuring its chapter operations for enhanced and meaningful membership engagement, among others.
